Washington DC: Day 2

Friday morning was wetter than Thursday. It was raining quite heavily. We already had the tourmobile tickets so got the bus at Arlington again and went into the Mall area. One place we went where the metro did not was the Jefferson memorial.

Then we ate lunch in the Mall standing under the eaves of the refreshment stand. Sad state of things.

It was so wet that we decided a museum was the only way to go so we went over to the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. Included in these photos are us touching a moon rock, sputnik, things from apollo missions, rockets, satellites, planes, fluid dynamics (AAAHHHH) and all sorts of things. Most of these photos have labels if you open through picassa and look closely.

They also had some old maps of the world.

Last thing were some exhibits from the Museum of American History that was closed for renovations. Look closely at the labels, there are some cool things here including Lincoln's silk that he was wearing when he was assassinated.

It was still raining when we came out, and halfway to the metro station we were already wet, so popped into the Hirshhorn Modern Art Gallery, just long enough to dry off. The only thing of interest were some sculptures by Alexander Calder

We finally made it home, very wet and just ordered in pizza for dinner.
