A Summer Harvest

This is a post about the summer harvest we are currently witnessing. While winter is a time of scarcity, summer is a time of plenty, as everything tries to grow as fast as it can before the fall comes. I too wanted a part of this, so a few months ago I planted my own herb garden (with the help of Robin). I also planted a jalapeƱo plant and four pimentos.

The herb garden, including italian parsley, sage, thyme, tarragon, rosemary, mint and basil. I did have chervil but it was attacked by aphids :(

The pimento's ripening.

The jalapeƱos... mmm tasty.

Along with this, Robin has had a bountiful harvest of tomatoes, assorted chilis (seen above) as well as garden peas, beetroot and herbs.

Along with our harvest, we have been frequenting the farmers market only a short bike ride down the road. Corn is in season, as well as assorted beans, onions and more beetroot.

One of the best things about summer here is the local fruit, including berries, peaches and apples that were picked in the morning fresh, and sold in the afternoon.

Nothing better!

Llew, as always it all looks delicious. Even before any cooking begins.
