Stuttgart in 4 parts

We drove from the Black Forest up to Stuttgart. We were meeting Julia who stayed with us in Brisbane. Her and Sebastian actually live outside Stuttgart in Ludwigsberg so we headed there. After a quick meal out, washing and sleep, we looked around the small town.

Part 1: Ludwigsberg

It has its own Schloss (castle) which is remarkably large for a small town. It has wonderful gardens, but they were just starting to be planted as it is just starting spring.

We went inside and there were 4 museums: porcelain, fashions of the era, portrait and a few rooms from the time.

View from the new Schloss to the old Schloss.

And the garden.

Then we walked up into the centre of town and saw the market place with church and town hall.

Part 2: Cooking

After the day out, Julia and Sebastian took us to the shops to get the ingredients for a fine 3 course meal. What's new? First worked out all about the kitchen.

Then got the minions to work.

Some demonstrations going on.

Rolled stuffed chicken almost ready to be braised.

The chicken on white asparagus with beurre blanc.

Next extravaganza was actually breakfast the next morning. It was Saturday so we slept in and Julia and Sebastian put on a feast (just the usual fridge contents really). Can you count how many cheeses there are? You can't see the meats in the box, but there were about 8 of those too. Salmon, nutella and fine breads to complete the picture.

Part 3: Benz museum

That day we went to the Benz museum with the history of Daimler and Mercedez Benz from the first car onwards. It was only opened in 2006 so is a wonderful display. Highly recommend it.

Part 4: Stuttgart

Last thing was to go into Stuttgart for a late lunch (4pm) and a quick look around. The palace first.

The Schloss second.

The square in the middle.

And the main street. This is actually King's Street and is just like Queen St in Brisbane.

And thus was Stuttgart and surrounds in 4 parts.
