The New Apartment

We moved into our apartment on Monday as Llew said. Today we got internet and cable TV (I must say we are much happier now) and so I can finally upload photos.

This is the view from the patio door. Sorry, it was too cold to go outside. Those photos might come soon. In the fist photo, you can just see a road going off left from our street. On the other side of that road is a Walmart. It is only 10 minutes walk to it, so I have been twice now.

As you come in the entrance and turn left, you see the kitchen with the dining room behind.

Looking straight ahead is the lounge and hallway with the bathroom in the back. On the right you can just see that very large pantry that is making Llew happy.

Further into the apartment and looking left is the loungeroom. We have hired the furniture so that we a: don't have to buy it and b: don't have to get rid of it at the end. It is all new, and quite cheap to rent. It came with the 2 couches, coffee table, 2 end tables and lamps, the cabinet the TV is on and the dining suite. It also came with a bed head that we don't think we'll be using.

More lounge with view of dining and patio door.
Dining and kitchen. It is a great layout.
From patio door back into loungeroom.
Now, just to confuse, here is the bathroom from 2 angles. Yes, it has two vanity units, the first in the bathroom and the second on the way into our room. Our room has access then to the bathroom.

The second bedroom is on the left at the end of the hall and turn left, and our bedroom is on the right. Yes, as Llew said, the bed is on the floor. Really wierd because the heating is in the ceiling, which makes it a bit cold at that level. Unfortunatly, we tried to buy a base today and in this country, they don't seem to know of such things as slat beds and single matresses. ALL beds have two matresses! So we have decided we'll probably just leave it on the floor. We cranked the heat to 73F (about 23C) last night and it seemed to do the trick.

As to where we are located, the red spot and arrow shows where the apartment is and the blue dot and arrow shows where Llew's building is. It is about a 5 minute drive. Llew plans to get a bike when it gets a bit warmer. It is a bit far to walk. The Wabash River is the faint blue line in the middle of the map and that separates West Lafayette from Lafayette. If you want to know more about where we are, Google "Salem Courthouse Apartments Lafayette" and you will see more about our place.
For now, it is back to our new cable!
